Sasha Ferreira began his violin studies in Havana, Cuba, under Alejandro Ferreira. While living there, he won first prize and the prize for the best interpretation of Cuban music over the course of several years in the “Amedeo Roldan” violin competition, the most prestigious violin competition in Cuba. He continued his studies at the National Conservatory of Music in Lima, Peru, from which he graduated with honors in 1997.
As a soloist, Sasha has performed both with piano accompaniment and with orchestras throughout Peru, Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia, and the United States.
From 1997 until 2007, Ferreira was a member of the Lima String Quartet, in residence at Catholic Peruvian University. Considered the most important chamber group in Peru, the Lima String Quartet has recorded various CD's of classical music with the collaboration of a remarkable array of Peruvian composers. This group has performed in many Peruvian cities as well as in Chile and in the United States. The Lima String Quartet supports Peruvian composers' works, also incorporating in its repertoire the mainstream quartet literature.

In Lima, Sasha was concertmaster of the Prolirica Symphony Orchestra and assistant concertmaster of the Lima Philharmonic Orchestra. He was also a member of the Lima Philharmonic Orchestra's Soloists as well as other chamber music groups.

Along with his performance career, he taught for many years at Markham College as well as in the National Conservatory of Music in Lima, Peru.

Sasha moved to the United States in 2007 and obtained his Master's degree in violin performance at The University of Southern Mississippi under Dr. Stephen Redfield. During this time, he played as assistant concertmaster in the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra in Pensacola, Florida, and was a member of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra in Mobile, Alabama, and well as member of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra in Jackson, Mississippi.

Inspired by beautiful Peruvian melodies, Sasha recorded "Con su Toque de Violin," a selection of Peruvian popular songs. Named after the first phrase of one of the song's lyrics, this production received a warm public welcome and also favorable criticism from important Peruvian artists such as Cecilia Barraza, Victor "Coco" Salazar, and Juan Castro Nalli, co-composer with the iconic Chabuca Granda of one of the CD's pieces. After its release in 2004, this production remained among the top 25 best selling compact discs in Peru for two years.
Currently, Sasha is working on his Doctoral degree in violin performance at The University of Georgia, USA, under Professor Levon Ambartumian.
